Spotlight Brother: Brother Hailey Vraney
Our Spotlight Brother this week is Brother Hailey Vraney! Hailey became a Brother with Pi class during Fall 2015 semester. She is an accounting major and is graduating this semester. Hailey held multiple positions during her time with Eta Rho previously she was Vice President of Professional Development and currently she is Secretary for our chapter.
What is your favorite AKPsi memory?
My favorite AKPsi memory would have to be when I found out my big was Hannah, I had her in a few of my classes that semester and we had immediately bonded after meeting each other so I was hoping that I would have her as my big. When I finally found out she was I was so happy! We spent the whole time at brotherhood weekend bonding as well as being awful at every physical activity game we participated in. Ever since then we have become so close, I couldn't have asked for anyone better.
If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would you say?
I would probably give myself two pieces of advice. One would be to take my academics more seriously as when I was younger I did not fully understand how important doing well in classes was. The second would be to not worry so much as I used to always think that I had to have everything figured out but now I know that I am still young and have time to see where my life and career will take me.
Do you have any tips you would like to pass down to younger brothers?
To younger brothers I would say to enjoy your time in AKPsi and try to get as much out of it as you can. Never tell yourself you're not good enough to run for something, or to try and make a change in the chapter they feel would benefit us. Don't let your fear keep you from trying as when you leave you will only regret the things you did not do.
What will you miss most about Eta Rho?
There are so many things I will miss it's hard to say just one thing. I'm going to miss everything...the brothers, to having fun and bonding with everyone at the events, the crazy social media of the week pictures we all laugh about. The only thing I think I won't miss is the four hour long voting chapters.
