While Brothers spent time volunteering or fundraising, Sean spent his time on improving the long-term financial health of Eta Rho.

He helped us during difficult times and successfully transformed our weaknesses into strengths! His impact on Eta Rho doesn’t stop there—many Brothers appreciate his willingness to share guidance on academics, accounting, or life. his success comes to no surprise here in akpsi; his work ethic and desire to succeed continues to pave the road for him. What he has been able to do so far as VP of Finance reminds brothers of his strong skillsets and number savvy brain. this is only the beginning for him! Thank you for your hard work, Sean!

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO JOIN AKPSI?

I heard about Alpha Kappa Psi through a close friend of mine. She always talked about it and how much she learned from it. Also, as a freshman and commuter, I didn’t have many opportunities to make friends with people and I figured that joining this fraternity would not only expose me to different networking opportunities but opportunities to make new friends as well.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AKPSI MEMORY?

I cannot pinpoint an exact memory as my favorite, but overall there have been many great experiences from playing football at Brotherhood Weekend to Brother Jeff and me chasing after someone who stole my phone in the quad.

HOW HAS AKPSI CHANGED YOUR MINDSET TOWARDS YOUR SUCCESS ACADEMICALLY, PROFESSIONALLY, AND PERSONALLY?

AKPsi has definitely changed my mindset. I came into UIC knowing I wanted to pursue a career in Accounting, but not knowing much about it besides general research I did online. Throughout the years, I have met many people who shared a similar background to me and who I was able to learn a lot from and in a way follow their footsteps. I have definitely learned a lot about what it takes to become successful and have raised the standards for myself as I approach the beginning of the end to my college career.

DO YOU HAVE ANY INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE, OR ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU’RE PROUD OF?

Over the summer of 2018, I had the opportunity to intern abroad in London at Michael Page a Financial Services recruiting firm. I learned a lot about the UK’s culture and corporate environment and would definitely recommend that everyone at least once studies/works abroad! Something that I am very proud of is winning the PwC Challenge Case Competition. This was my second year competing in it and after composing a team primarily of Brothers from AKPsi (Megan, Ramesh and Sangeetha). We earned 1st place among 6 other teams across the Midwest. I will be interning at RSM, a top 5 accounting firm, in the summer of 2019 and in the future plan on completing my CPA and pursuing a career in Audit.
