Our spotlight brother this week is Brother Joanna! Joanna is a hardworking, dedicated, and charismatic individual who always puts a smile on our faces. She crossed over in Spring of 2017 with the rest of Tau class and is always contributing to AKPsi and attending events. Ever since she crossed she has put her heart and soul into improving the chapter and reaching out to those who need help. Thanks for all you do Joanna & here’s a little bit more about her!

What is your favorite AKPsi memory?

My favorite AKPsi memories are formed at the study tables. I loved meeting the brothers when I was a pledge, and I love meeting the pledges now. You never know what kind of conversation you will end up having, and AKPsi attracts such diverse individuals, so there is always something to learn or a new perspective to gain.

Any recent accomplishments or internship experience you’d like to share?

This past summer I interned at a start-up in Copenhagen, Denmark called Squarely. Squarely makes self-watering planters using up-cycled materials. This was a special experience for me because it allowed me to combine my interest in Entrepreneurship and my passion for the environment in a work setting. In addition to that, it was abroad! Which made the experience 10x more exciting for me.

If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would you say?

Over the past two years, I have had more opportunities (thank you AKPsi) to be involved in a variety of sports. This has included soccer, dodgeball, badminton, basketball among others. Overall, I am pretty content with my life, however, I think I would tell my high school self to get more involved in some sort of sport, seeing how much I enjoy it now.

What do you like to do outside of AKPsi?

Some things that I like to do outside of AKPsi include staying updated with current events and politics, spending time with friends and family, eating at various Asian restaurants, and exploring the world either in-person or by prowling google maps. I also enjoy running a little side-business with my sister that deals with luxury clothing resale.

What is your favorite quote?

The only people that work hard are people that don’t like what they are doing” is one that I like right now.

What's something not many people know about you?

I collect keychains from the places that I’ve been to.
