Spotlight Brother: Brother Sanjana Epari

Our Spotlight Brother this week is Sanjana Epari! Sanjana studies Chemical Engineering at UIC and is a senior graduating May 2019. She crossed over in the Fall semester of 2017 and is part of the Upsilon class. She recently accepted a full-time offer at Unilever, so if you run into her make sure you congratulate her! :)

What's been the most memorable AKPsi experience to you?

The most memorable AKPsi experience for me was in the waiting room during Court of Honor. Although we were slightly relaxed having gone through Mid-court, it was still nerve-wrecking for some. We started singing songs together to breakdown the nerves. I think we even sang a Christmas song because it was snowing outside. We all struggled in some way throughout the process, so it was surreal knowing we were close to being done.

What are your future career plans?

I recently accepted a leadership program within the supply chain function of Unilever. I was hoping after few years in the industry, I will go back to school for an MBA and then start a career in consulting afterwards.

What is one of your defining moments?

One of my defining moments was when I made a huge decision to transfer from my college in Virginia to Chicago. I grew up in Virginia most of my life, so I was definitely out of my comfort zone moving here. I faced some unfortunate events that changed my perspective on life and who I wanted to be. I challenged myself to develop personally, which eventually helped put me in track of my career goals. Looking back, I can say with 100% confidence I don’t regret moving here.

If you could only keep 5 possessions what would they be and why?

  • A journal and pen - to write my thoughts

  • My laptop - music because I like to dance and photos for the memories

  • My blanket - I had this since I was a baby

  • My backpack - to store my other 4 possessions!
