Last month Eta Rho welcomed the wonderful pledges of Chi class to the AKPsi family! Membership committee did a fabulous job planning a wholesome event with current brothers, alumni, and pledges.
The event started off by allowing pledges to mingle with one another and the brothers. We later started the first game of the afternoon. Everyone was in a group and had to create a tower with the given ingredients of marshmallows and raw spaghetti. Groups were combined with both pledges, alum, and brothers and required them to form the tallest tower they could with only the two ingredients. The team bonding and unity was evident throughout the entirety of the game.
We later decided to head on outdoors to enjoy the sunshine and began the Balloon Stomping game. The rules required participants to tie a balloon around their ankle and stomp on everybody else's to get them out of the game. In order to be the winner of this intense game, you had to remain standing with a balloon still around your ankle untouched. Our very own Chi class pledge, Meet Patel, was the champion of this game. It was a great activity that required lots and lots of energy! Our balloon stompers were hungry, so there was pizza provided right after.
After everyone refueled, we went back outside and played the Speed Meeting Icebreaker game that allowed pledges and brothers to be paired up in a straight line. They had 1-2 minutes to talk about a specific topic. This allowed everyone to get to know one another on a whole different level and to share their values with others.
One of the last games played at Brotherhood Weekend had pledges and brothers getting a little too close with each other! This game was the Two-Legged Race, which meant that a pledge and a brother had a string connecting both their ankles to one another. With this teamwork, they had to make their way to the finish line competing with the other duos. This game was quite tricky, but still managed to have a few winners!
Everyone had a great time at Brotherhood Weekend and we’d like to offer our appreciation to both Membership & Social committee for planning a memorable event. Eta Rho looks forward to every event, especially this one. Follow our instagram @uicakpsi and our website akpsietarho.org to keep up with our events and to see more pictures!
